My name is Christoph Kiefer, I have been working as an auditing and tax consulting assistant at FALK in Heidelberg since May 2015.
Before beginning my career at FALK, I studied economics (B.Sc.) and then management (M.Sc.) with a focus on tax theory and accounting at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. I spent one semester at the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics in Dalian, China.
Following my studies, I wanted to work for a company that offered me the opportunity to gain experience in tax consulting and also in auditing. Additionally, I was looking for an employer with a friendly, supportive working environment where each employee is not simply a ‘number’ but an important member of a team. I soon found out about FALK and started working here on May 4, 2015.
I was made very welcome by managers and colleagues alike and, during the first few weeks, they introduced me to the internal processes and areas of activity. I was encouraged to ask questions right from the start and that is still the case today. Very soon, I had the opportunity to collaborate actively on year-end audits, the preparation of financial statements, tax declarations and various special projects such as due diligences. The wide range of tasks and the opportunity to work directly with clients in diverse industries makes the working day at FALK very varied and promotes both professional and personal development. Through its membership in the Praxity alliance, FALK supports many internationally active clients, and this adds to the excitement and the challenge.
FALK also places great importance on the continued training and development of its employees. In addition to the ongoing “training on the job”, participation in a range of internal and external training courses is an integral part of each employee’s annual schedule. During the regular internal training events, colleagues from the individual specialist departments convey their practice-oriented knowledge. In addition to its headquarters in Heidelberg, FALK now has nine other locations throughout Germany. Multi-day training events outside headquarters provide the opportunity to get to know colleagues from the other branches in an informal atmosphere and to make new contacts and friendships. Together with the practical training and continued learning through courses and seminars, the company provides us with a sound basis for taking the professional examinations.
Because of the friendly and supportive working environment and the fact that we constantly face new tasks and challenges, routine is never a problem. After almost three years at FALK, I still look forward to going to work every day and I firmly believe that I made the right choice in joining FALK in the spring of 2015.
